What I Wore Wednesday: Jan 16

Hey there! Bear with me on the photos in this edition of What I Wore Wednesday. Philip bought a new computer with Windows 8 and has been having difficulty hooking up a new video card and resetting up our dual-screen monitor junk. Plus, he still has to reload Photoshop : /

So for the time being, you get pretty much unedited photos...urg. It'll be like what was on my blog a year or two ago!

Moving on, huzzah! For this week's What I Wore Wednesday, I wanted to share with you a dress I refashioned. I'm a sucker for anything polka-dotted, so this dress was a total MUST HAVE when I found it at Goodwill for $5.00. It was a cute sundress screaming out. I ended up taking off some length and removing the sleeves and the shoulder pads.

I can't wait to wear this dress in the summer with strappy sandles and a cute necklace. Maybe I'll add it to my cruise wear!

Clothing Refashion: Just in Time for Xmas

Hey there! Hope you're all enjoying the holidays. I decided to refashion a thrifted $5.00 dress last week, and this is how it turned out. Say hello to what I wore for Xmas Eve:

{long icky dress to cute babydoll dress}

{i wanted to wear it with flats, but it was 10 degrees. boots were best!}

{worn with a George (Wal-Mart) cardigan from like 2005/6,  Old Navy leggings, and vegan boots from  Alternative Outfitters}

{took in the sleeves and bodice and cut off some length}

{i tried to get a shot of the bodice, which has awesome overlapping stitches}

Clothing Refashion: My Ugly Curtain Dress

Once upon a time (well, last year), I went thrift shopping late in the season for an ugly xmas sweater. Having missed the boat, I instead ended up with this thing:

I know, I know...it's not the most attractive material. That's why I bought it for an ugly xmas sweater party. It looks like some retro kind of upholstery. Last year, I just didn't have the time or sewing machine needed to make it wearable before the party. Thought I'd give it a shot this year!

I took in the sides and under the arms and shortened the sleeves. Here's what I came up with...in action:

I kept imagining this scene from The Carol Burnett Show in which Carol Burnett plays a broke Scarlett O'Hara, descending the staircase at Tara, dressed in the curtains.

My green dress turned out fairly well; I just think it's in the way I paired it with other items that kept it from totally looking as though I was dressed in curtains. My friends offered loads of compliments and even two offers to take the dress later on :)
